!2 month Calibration of MFT?

Hi All,

I have a Megger MFT which for the last couple of years have had Calibrated at the local wholesaler to fall in line with my Elecsa registration. Do i have to do this or can i buy a Cal-Card and check its accuracy every couple of weeks (keeping a record aslo). one of the reasons is, its a pain to be without it for a couple of days.....

well i think its like every 2 years if you have a means of self prooving your test instruments...any way....after a post by howard about a week ago....decided to ring JT instruments up here in normanton......£35 all in for MFT callibration....dont seem bad to me does that.....

Dave, i know NAPIT are happy if you keep records of checks as long as they are regular and within the tolerances. Best way forward is to check with Elecsa and see what they want, after all it will be them who decides when your registration renewal comes around!

Elecsa will want to see an annual calibration certificate.

Annual calibrations are the minimum standard that ELECSA will accept. ELECSA would also like to see a comparative control system in place to ensure the continued accuracy and consistency of all instruments used for certification and reporting between annual calibrations.

You should have an inspection once a year and HE WILL want to see a certified tracable certificate with all listings of calibration equipment used by the calibration company - you wouldnt want to risk leaving it over year as if something was to go wrong on installation you'll have health and saftey all over you.
