Ive never seen or used this method ,but it would work! ,must be foregn i think ,i always use the 3 plate method ,live at one end ,switch wire at the other, neutrals at the light ,never at the swich,so i wouldnt recomewnd doing this ,its strange
atvbitwww

I take my 3 core from switch to switch but when I first started 3 years ago the spark I worked with taught me to take my 3 cores from each switch to the ceiling rose and crimp it through in the rose.

live and neutral to the light 3 plate method
run 3 core between the switches ,via the light to save cable ,leave the strappers intact ,cut the "red" and conect one end to live and the other is the switch wire ,
thats how i do it if using 3core ,i am proberbly going to be told its wrong ,but i dont know that other method
this thread could get interesting !

Permanent live in rose and s/w at switch. Take one 3 core cable between the 2 switches, That's how I do it.

Thats what i know as the convertion method, usefull if converting one way to two way, uses more cable and is a bit more time consuming ,but nothing wrong with it ,only the crimp in the cswitch box ,which some consider bad practice for new work ,i dont mind which way its done

where do you pick your common up from then ,i asume you run a 2 core down from the ceiling rose?

Old colours I know but like this

Yeah, off your switch wire

No, at the other end you will just have a 3 core so common (same as at your other switch obviously) and then an earth and two more cores which are strappers

Sorry not disagreeing ,but cant understand it ,i was shown for this method take a two core from the rose ,join the live to the red in the three core and swichwire in the common terminal at one swich and connect the other again with red in the common and strappers in the l1 and l2,obviouslly this means a crimp or connectior in the switch box ,cant quite see where you get your supply from ,i must be confused by what you meen ,

L/N/E to rose connect T/E (that will drop down to switch 1), one core (brown) to loop terminals of rose the other core (blue sleeved brown) to Switch return terminal of rose . This T/E at switch 1 will now connect to L1 & L2.
Connect 3c/e at switch 1 to common L1 & L2 terminals & do the same at switch 2.

Make any more sense to you?
As you say RR this practice is or was known as the conversion method.

Wait untill you come across multiple runs of T/E used for 2way switching via terminal strip enclosed in a JB4 hidden away in a ceiling & customer wants an intermediate fitting ....deep joy....bring on the conversion method:D

Hi Mac
I think thats whats known as the conversion method ,i was never sure how to do it as i was shown the conector method mentioned earlier ,all the wiring i did as an apprentice was in conduit ,so its different again ,done plenty since in tae ,think i will start doing it like this in the future ,thanks for your posts ,i love learning new stuff,
