Hi there I'm new here but I'm thinking of doing the 2394 course and just looking for some info on books or what other people have experienced as I'm not very experienced at testing

The 2394 if really for people who are experienced at testing so it would be wise to get some practice in.

The 2394 is for initial verification only so it will not cover periodic inspection.
The reference book to which you need to refer is IET Guidance note 3, buy this and read up on the correct wording and responsibilities and requirements for initial verification.

The Exam success books for 2394/2395 can be a brief but useful guide to how to approach the exam and ensure you are using the correct techniques to maximise your marks.

Got to the city and guilds website and read the Chief Examiners Reports on 2394 (under additional documents tab for the exam page) that advise you on common failures in this exam.
