Advice on adding Ethernet cable during a full house rewire

So I am getting a house rewired and I have been unsure what is the best way to have some ethernet points in my house. I would probably need it in two rooms downstairs and two upstairs. It's something I would like but it's no way a dealbreaker. Sure I can use homeplug and wifi but nothing beats hardwired speeds especially now that I can get 500mb plus broadband speeds where I live.

Has anyone ever put in an ethernet network in during a house rewire?

My favourite option is to run all cables to a centralised point which houses a switch. Cupboard under the stairs, loft, utility room etc are good. For the switch think of the number of ports you'll need and double it.

One cable is run to the main phone point, you could either plug the router in here or at the switch point depending on what you want.

TBH there's loads of options.

I'd go with Cat6A as this will give more flexibility in the future for increased data speeds and bandwidth.

When the cables are run are they run with the electrical cables or do they need their own run?

Can the ethernet port be next to the sockets or are there some regulations not allowing that?

Your electrician will (should) know about cable spacings!

50mm is advised but the bigger the separation the better, they can cross at 90 degree angles if required as the AC magnetic field cancels itself out in that direction.

Sockets can go next to each other but try and keep 50mm between them.

Data cables tend to need to be replaced more often than power cables so try to allow for that. The last house I wired I put in 20mm PVC conduit from the attic down to each RJ45 socket, it was a bungalow though.
