Discuss Any of the old school have a bending block? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

Yes I have used one, with my first Electrician all he had was an old black vice for cutting and a setting block (piece timber with hole in middle bout just over 20mm) , when was a kid and we had one at college too, they are a bloody night mare ok for small sets, double sets. 90c forget it.

They seem to vary,in design and material, and also regionally.

In days of yore, apprentices would make up such items, during basic workshop instruction, thus gaining engineering knowledge and the start of a tool kit.

The best example i have seen, was made in the 60's,by a fella who served his time at Crossley engines,in Manchester, and allegedly made his out Lignum Vitae,or to be more specific, his Grandads Crown Green bowling ball.

His son showed me this beauty, and many other tool treasures, whilst proving his humour by-pass...

On presenting the bowling oddity,I said "Wow,i bet his off-sets were bob-on,if he put a little white ball on the enclosure..."

"I don't know", he replied,"I'm an accountant..." ;)

Yes I still have mine, it's holding up some shelves in the garage, and NO I am not going to, or should that be too or maybe two take it down, if you read some of the other posts you may get the irony of the toos LOL
