Discuss best voltage tester in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

For RCD tests locate a socket either in your home/workshop/office that has been checked and tested with a known correct value and ensuring that the circuit is protected by an RCD at the consumer unit or a plug in unit . Use this as your MASTER SOCKET and test your instrument with this socket and record value. x1/2,x1, x5

cheers trypod ,
i have recieved the test sheet do i need a checkbox for the continuity and insulation tests as the sheet states the fluke voltage tester ive ordered is the t5-1000with h5 holder and1ac kit from isswww.co,uk for £108.10 it should be here next few days thanks for your replies and help cheers mate

You need a checkbox or a set of known value resistors values 0.5 ohm, 1ohm 2ohm 10 ohm for continuity checks and 0.5M ohm 2M ohm 10M ohm 20M ohm 50M ohm for insulation checks

Eh tell me if I'm wrong but do you still not need to calibrate your multlifunction tester or seperate's and have a valid certificate each year?

hi mate
as far as i am aware if you check the calibration on a known socket for rcd and zs then use a checkbox for insulation and continuity then you only need to get it calibrated every three years but trypod or someone as clued up as him will be able to tell ya

Roggi

It depends on who you are with

Calibration frequency should depend on how often it is used.
so you should use a check box once a month too ensure the readings are in limits and see if there is any change to the readings.

Once you have history you can prove your meter is in calibration

You can also have a log of use for the meter

hi trypod
ive just got the link to ebay for the calcard is that all i need for the continuity and insulation checks as i will by that and get a checkbox at a later date
