Hi,

I have two questions about domestic wiring In Ireland

1. Should conduit be used when passing multiple T&E cables (2.5mm) through a garage wall (where the consumer unit is located) to under a suspended timber floor on the other side?

2. Should cables running under a suspended timber floor be secured to joists or is normal to have cables resting on the ground?

Thanks!

Good question & quite a few options here.
Item 1 Would be No conduit required
Item 2 We’ve all seen cabling lying on the floor, not ideal but if they are installed in a groomed manner, & supported when rising from the floor it can be presumed ok.
Obviously the area must be free from debris & rodents.
If access is possible why not All Band cabling to the bottom of the joists/fixings

You're familiar with Irish wiring regulations?

Passing through the wall should be in conduit to protect the cables. Yes cables should be clipped.
