Just carried out some small works in a ground floor WC, moved the position of a light and replaced it with a new one,
The circuit at the moment is protected by a 6A MCB, but lacks additional protection by means of a 30mA RCD for cables buried <50mm plaster. There's no bath or shower room on the circuit,
My supervisor has said it doesnt require RCD but ive heard conflicting opinons, Just filling out the minor works now,
Should I note the lack of additional protection in the comments or departures.
Thanks Judd

Does the alteration you have done require RCD protection, or are you referring to parts of the existing circuit ?

Existing circuit that I have worked on.
In the course of the alteration have you buried any cables in walls less than 50mm from the surface that need RCD protection ?
You don't need to provide RCD protection for parts of the circuit you haven't installed or altered.

Does it need supplementary bonding? It's a WC, no bath or shower.
Thinking along the lines of taps on wash basin connecting to copper pipe of the installation.

No mention of light switch within the room could either be pull cord or wall switch which could be metallic.

The part of the installation you have ‘moved’ will need RCD protection. If it was a like for like replacement and you had not moved the light I would say no to installing RCD protection but I would comment on the MWC that it was missing.

Can you elaborate on this? As it conflicts with another members post, the cables I altered where not buried in plaster.

Then I am wrong. I assumed they were buried.

If surface then no RCD required. I would make a comment that RCD protection is required under current Regs but not dangerous.

A w.c is not a special location and is the same as not bonding your kitchen sink pipework, not required.
but.. what about the metal window frame that can be reached when sitting on the bog?
