Hello guys

I have an old 1960s flat i have carried out and EICR on, I have come across one issue i am unsure of:

the consumer unit is located within the flat with the meter adjacent, the only point of isolation is the Ryefeild panel outside in the communal cupboard.
Would the defect being no local isolation for consumer unit be a code 3?

Surely you can isolate the installation at the CU main switch ?

Just to understand - are you saying there is no DP isolation switch in the flat's CU ?
Edit : Andy beat me ...

Hi Andy
Yes you can however i thought you might need a local point of isolation before the DB seeing at the ryefeild panel is located in an area not readily accessible, possibly a daft question as i am quite prone the them lol

So the CU doesn't have a mains switch then?

It's only the same as a domestic system where there is no isolation for the tails except the sealed DNO fuse, or a commercial system with a sealed bemco unit with main fuses within.

yes the consumer unit does however say if for some reason you needed to change the DB.... ok i think i have asked a daft question actually, basically the only way of isolating the entire installation before the DB main switch would be the DNO ryefeild panel which has its own fuse for the flat.
