Hey all,
I'm in the process of getting myself into the electrical trade. I've already established that I need to complete level 2 and 3 electrical installations at my local college.

I understand that I will need a CSCS card in order to allow me to get on site during and after these quals in order to gain experience.
Maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit here but I've been doing some research into these different cards and I'm a bit confused. To work as an electrical labourer /mate etc, it's an ECS card I need right? As far as I'm aware, I can't obtain this until I've completed at least level 2. So in the meantime should I be trying to obtain a 'general labourer' card in order to hopefully get me some on site work and experience whilst doing the courses at college? Or maybe I've gotten it all completely wrong.
I've emailed this question to some institutions but frustratingly I'm not really getting the clarification. The jobcentre are also snowed under with this virus so their work coaches aren't really prioritising these things understandably.

I know all studies are suspended etc but I just really like to get all my ducks in a row.
Thanks in advance

you can do your cscs card at any time as it is mostly based on site health and safety and the bloody obvious.
