does anybody know of any good design software for designing logos etc

just got loads of cards from vista print and not happy with them going to design my own well a least try lol

Have a play with this, not the easiest to learn, but very powerfull: GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program Standard on most Linux installs (and there's a windows version).

Serif Drawplus (2D & 3D Drawing Program) or Pageplus (Desktop Publishing Program) are both very capable and probably better than Gimp because they handle vector graphics (image scalable without loss of detail) in addition to normal raster graphics. Free versions are available for download, but latest versions are paid for, all are fine for your application.

There is a plugin for most things in Gimp, this will handle vector conversion: G'MIC - GREYC's Magic Image Converter
