Hi all,
Was wondering if anyone out there can recommend a brand of dimmer switch that can stand a bit of inrush current from a lamp blowing..
I have got through two in the last 6 months, both have suffered quadrac failure
The switches used have a VDR on the output but the fault gets beyond this.
The light fitting uses 40w candle bulbs which when fail, give a short cct that takes out the mcb. Circuit Zs is about 2ohms so getting on for 100 amp fault current... which a quadrac should be able to stand momentarilly..
Have thought about going LED, but it's the usual "wifey only likes the light from proper lamps" :hammer:

Any thoughts? .. or is it going to cost me the best part of 10 quid everytime a 70p lamp blows ??

Hi,

I would recommend MK I have a client who moved into their house 16 years ago and i fitted MK dimmers and about 24 Newlec transformers on LV lighting, I have never replaced a dimmer and only last week ! I had to replace a transformer !

The secret is to overrate your dimmer and don't by Tesco lamps !!!
