Hello,
I need to add a switch for an outside light. The obvious place is near the back door but that is where the fire call point will go.

Is there a minimum distance in any regualtions between the two?

E.g. to prevent someone from accidentally pressing the call point while trying to press the light switch.

call points are generally mounted @ 1200mm. this is also the recommended height for your switch, under part M. sod part M. safety circuits take precedence. stick the switch higher up.

As long as the switch does not distract from the call point it shouldn't be a problem. If the switch is going to be surface mounted then it may well do if the call point is not conspicuous from all directions in particular the main route of travel past it.

I'll look it up but thought CP'S were 1400 but was a flexible rule if you want to match existing switch heights, if you consider accidental operations the a lift up cover will usually suffice as mentioned.

The fact its red just isn't enough for some people.
agree. the numptys need a red flame symbol stuck on the wall to indicate that it's not a light switch. then they'll think it's a fire extinguisher.

MCPs are 1400mm +/- 300mm. so my 1200 falls within.

Light switches are 450mm-1200mm. what idiot wouldfitalight switch @450mm?
