Hello,

tried posting this in the DIY forum, but couldn't see that post thread button.

My Problem:

I have bought a new extractor hob, now the previous one didn't work and when I took out the old one I saw that the fuse(3 amp) was gone, which I changed now.

When I put the brown & blue wire in and test the brown wire with my tester, I can see it works as the light in the screwdriver comes on. However, the extractor fan doesn't come on.

I was wondering if there could be something wrong with the other wiring, which makes is not work?

The Earth wire is connected from the main socket back into the metal socket.

It seems like electricity is flowing into the hob, could there be something wrong with earth of neutral? which is causing it not to work?

Hi the first thing I would suggest is ditching the light up screwdriver. You need to test the voltage with a proper 2 lead tester. If you don't have one of these I would suggest that you call a spark who would be able to sort this out for you in next to no time.
