Recently moved into a bungalow and discovered the 240v downlighters in the hall and bathroom turn off after a few seconds. They cant be overheating in this short period. Any ides please?

How are they switched - not via a PIR or occupancy / movement sensor? And they just come on briefly while that sensor settles down?

How many of them are there, and are they halogen or LED bulbs in them?
If you turn off and on again do they immediately come on again?
Does anything trip at the consumer unit when this happens?

If you are feeling confident you could turn the entire power off at the main switch and check the connections at the switches are sound.
Beyond that I'm afraid you will probably need to get someone in to test the integrity of the wiring or diagnose a damaged switch.

(@loz2754 out of interest do you cover Tamworth?)

Tamworth should be covered...... like Pompeii, in volanic ash/lava. ???
