Electric Shock from Shower

Hi All

I have a customer reporting getting a shock from their electric shower, I have to go there tomorrow to investigate. Can anyone give me a heads up on what tests to carry out to prove if this is the case.

Hi,
check all your main earthing and main bonding. Do a continuity of protected conductors test (should be less than 0.05 Ohms )

Do an insulation resistance test on the cable supplying the shower.
Do an R1 + R2 on the cable to the shower and a ZS test as well.

But, it does sound like an earthing problem.

Hope some of this helps, and please anyone else add some more tests that may help.

Shower should have protection by 30mA RCD so this should be checked for correct operation as it is this that should prevent you getting shocked.

If there are no IR faults,earthing and bonding are in place,and adequate earth fault protection is provided they wont be getting shocks.....as the others have said this is what you need to check,

Is it best when doing the IR test to try with the shower switched on and do it with L&N clipped in one croc and the cpc in the other to actually check the shower as well?

That would come under adequate earth fault protection.
