All connections are to be in an enclosure. Does a plasterboard ceiling below a beam and block floor count. If not why not.

I was thinking of heat and smoke containment, in as you say a void, but if it's only approx 100mm deep so not accessable to people, what difference does a plastic choc box make.
 
because you would be enclosing your joint in a joint box which is a part of your installation, not part of the building fabric.
 
a plasterboard box would be great. can't wait to see what weird and wonderful way the cable restraints are fitted.
