I reside in Northampton, my Sister in law resides in Bath, some 120 odd miles away, anyway She wanted an extra socket in her hall way below the CU.
I had a look at some local Contractors who would be able to help, simple job you would think, anyway She contacted this local bloke , he turned up with his mate, chasing machine, dust extraction, dust sheet, masks, etc get the picture? anyway I could have done the job in about an hour, clip cable around the door jam, along the skirting, not much visibility with regards to cable, my Sister in Law said she would rather wait until I turned up for a look, (yes I could have done it myself as already mentioned but she was worried I may hurt myself Ahhhh) anyway I tried to be diplomatic with this Lad, he had no conception of clipping the cable, said the course he qualified with said clipping was the pits, crikey I nearly smacked the git, he was going to charge £250, so I went down to Screwfix bought some cable, pattress, twin socket and some clips, 45 mins later job done MNEWs cert issued, turned out he was a, no not going to say it.

I would be more worried for the bloke using the chasing machine anywhere near the CCU if it came to that. Last thing you want to be doing is hitting a cable in the wall with a spinning blade. Imagine if the meter tails came up there. BANG ;)

ANOTHER Electrical Trainee BITES THE DUST.

well good on you pete for doing a freebie.

I think proper neat clipping is very rare among the youngsters in our trade, but I'm making sure my lad gets it right. :)
nails to the bottom except vertical runs, where nails must be on the left. for training purposes. freezing cold prysmian T/E should be used.
