Getting in with new builds

Hi guys

After a little advice. Recently gone self employed and want to get some new builds. In your experience what's the best way/s to get in with the developers or construction companies?

Should i just go to site and talk to the foreman, or who do i phone, email ect....?

sorry if its a bit of a silly question, just new to all this.

If you are just starting out IMO I would stay away from builders....

Yeah i have experienced working with builders and things go wrong at the end. i will be probably get insurance to cover that event, (if the insurance company does that sort of cover)

just want few new builds a year to fill in some gaps between other jobs. plus it gets my name out there a bit more.

I would hate to say this but if you try agency work, they often have new builds requiring electricians, once you are there then you can ask the foreman, other tradesmen about other work going on in the local area, pass out a few cards and so on.

Don't think your get anywhere with that. Never gone tendering, but local builders have their tried and tested electricians (and other trades) they use every time. Unless you can do it considerably cheaper, they'll just use with what they're use to. Further up the chain I guess it's the same. House bashing is a devious market, unless you are willing to get your hands burnt, treat with caution.
