Not really - I obviously plan to use a RCD unit in garage - I know this may cause both house and garage to trip but I want RCD on the Garage board and we all know the SWA must hav RCD protection...right!

NO we don't, because you're Wrong!! Only if we are talking about the house having a TT earth would a RCD be needed to protect the SWA cable...

what - so if someone at a later date dug into the cable what protection to they have from the Live steel armour !

NO - you saying SWA does not have to be protected?

It's called ADS, didn't they teach you anything about that on you're 17 day course?? Ooops 20 day course you're an Engineer aren't you... :chinese:

well maybe you should leave saying any thing because you refuse to answer any of my points

Some useful advice for you sonny ....... never EVER get involved in a pi$$ing contest with certain older hands on this forum. They have forgotten more than you're ever likely to know in your entire lifetime!

If you're not happy with the very sound advice you're being given then leave and try elsewhere.

THIS forum is for Electricians - with a capital "E" - NOT two bit chancers.

It depends on which eng you're thinking of - the real one or the impostor. ;)

Would the real engineer please stand up!!!!!

He's the one wearing the Chinamans hat. ;)

There's another one floating about somewhere still in mourning for his lost beard and hair and a couple of others. They know who they are and they know who they are but the OP has yet to find out.

I think he does not have the BGB, or can"t read it, as for have not installed SWA before what did he learn at collage how to plum in a washing machine, as for RCD why not put one in the centre of SWA as well as both end as this would not help at all but might look good
But I think a better idea would be to just get some 2.5 twin/earth as it"s a lot easy to make off than SWA and then just IT it and put a sticker in flowerbed.
JOB DONE no need to test as it will be OOK in the end and we will not have to put up OPs like this,

yep thats right, my 4 year old engineers a lot of things that I have to fix at end of day
and gets me in a lot of crap with his mum when she gets home from work

I think that we are all missing the point, the OP has posted because he needs a some help on what to do, I think as we are all nice happy people we can help him, so the answer is get a ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS person in,or someone that has done a 5 week at a centre and does know SH"T about SWA,RCD and electrical work, I do think there are lots of people on here that could tell him how to do it but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,As for his name when I first singed up after 20 min of trying to rester a user name ended up with egg67 when I wanted greg67 but hayhow, so did he just want eng not the hole thing we all Know the old boys have got the best user names, but I think JRC is up grabs

how much do the supermarkets pay to stack shelves these days?

I can see our Elecengineers point he has to work , can't sit in front of the computer , otherwise tomorrow when we go shopping there will be no beer on the shelves at the supermarket , so don't hold him up , he's doing a grand job , just wish he'd forget about this SWA malarkey ,,,,LOL,,,

For the record I am neither gay nor an owl.....
I knew you weren't gay ( not that I'd be bothered if you were, me nephew is and we all love him regardless) but I was convinced you were an owl with electrical experience.
Live n learn, live n learn.
