I'm looking to purchase quite a few led lamps I've looked on eBay they are around £3 each from china direct anyone else got them cheaper! They will last there duration but buying from a wholesaler they want £7 each I've got 2 sites on the go both with 10 houses and each house takes 30 ish lamps hence the question I'm looking to save some dosh

you got a link to these chinese ones? might be worth a gander.

Is this serious?...

Anyway dont buy the cheap LED's they dont last, trust me this is from experiance. There crap, buy decent otherwise you'll be going back over the next year replacing them. We were supplied deltech LEDs for a job, bit more expensive than what your looking at but still poor, started going after 1 week. You get what you pay for with these.

let us know on the quality.

your price I would say is rock bottom - £2.22 for a 4w led seems pretty good to me.

I agree, that's very cheap and most likely nasty, the driver would be the cheapest rubbish available, the heatsink would be low quality aluminium, full of impurities and poor thermal performance. The LED package itself would not be any brand name, perhaps one known as " chimmie" loosely translated into English, its Chinese and crap. the light output would still be similar to that of say a medium quality LED brand such as Epistar or Bridigelux usa, but its light degredation rate would be woeful. The entire thermal pathway would be flawed, from the LED waffer, to the material the PCB is constructed of, to the drivers capacitors to the heat sink ( heat spreader) itself. and any claimed certification it may claim to have would be dubious.

So as i said im buying quite a few at a time to get the price down and if they are good you would want to know right? Instead of paying £7 a lamp from a wholesaler in this country including tax, import,, vat and there proffitt etc because as mentioned that's why they are the £7 and purchasing direct cuts that out hence my £2.22p per lamp buying 30/40 at one time
Forgot to mention they have a 2 yr guarantee and 50,000 hours same as the £7 ones you will buy from the wholesaler

You shouldn't have to query prices with your wholesalers but we all do!!

i bought some osram ones last week - made in china. the chinese are wher the japanese were 50 years ago. we laughed at jap stuff as cheap and nasty then. now japanese is a byword for quality!

A little off the OP but does anyone know if the slightly longer GU10 lamps fit into the twist lock type fire rated fittings?

My thinking is that these type of fittings have move room in the can as oppsed to the type where the lamp connector is fixed in place.

Any comments

They will be fine. I bought some to try out 8 months ago and they are still going strong, cost me £2.50 a lamp. At that price they have paid for themselves anyway compared to a normal GU10 which lets face it is a quid or more for anything decent. I'm sure they all come from the same factory similar to mcb et al.

heres the update on these cheapo led lamps!!! what a bargain.

as i said in an earlier post when you buy from a wholesalers in the uk your also paying tax, vat, proffit etc
