Hi,

I’m wanting to remove two plug sockets that are labelled 12v only linking two strings of led 15mm spot lights. I would like to replace them with in line transformers and hide under the fireproof downlight covers in the loft.

One plug is 6v 500mA DC leading to bathroom led lights x6 (2watt each)

The other plug is 12v 200mA DC leading to stairs led lights x4 (2watt each)

I will attach photos of the plugs need a link to two suitable transformers with same output.

Thanks

I would expect that the total wattage of each set of lights is 2 W, based on the supplies provided.
The 12 V one should not be too hard to find but a 6 V constant voltage power supply might be harder to find as it is not a very standard voltage, you may find a 5V power supply would work just as well since the lights are not illuminating, only accenting.
Generally you would probably also need to up the wattage of the power supply as most standalone ones will not go down as far as 2W.
Placing the power supply under a fire hood next to a downlight will mean the ambient temperature for the power supply will be higher than expected. Though assuming they are LED downlights then they should not get too hot and so the extra wattage capability will offset any de-rating needed.

They would both be OK, the 5V one is a lot more expensive than the one in my link and also larger, I do not think it would be the best choice, especially as the lights may not be quite so bright so you may need to buy a replacement, but that is up to you to select.
The ones I linked to have leads but the 12V one you link to has terminals. I generally prefer terminals for neatness.

Could you find me a 5v ip67 as it’s above the bathroom and supply’s the bathroom leds would rather be safe already ordered that one will try first but could do with a back up ? Thanks for your help appreciate it :)
