Hi can someone help please, I need to do a lighting diagram for college of a 2 way and intermediate lighting circuit using singles.
i have done the following
1. Neutral from the board to the batten holder then to a bulk head fitting.
2. Live from the board to common in first 2 way switch.
3. Set of strapers from first 2way switch to intermediate switch.
4. Another set of strapers to the next 2 way switch.
5. Then a live to the bulk head from common in last 2 way switch.
6. Also I added all earths in the circuit.

what I can't get my head around is how I connect all the cables in the light fittings to work both lights. Any advice on the light wiring would be great.

Your no 5 will be a switched live if I'm reading you post correctly

Do you mean that the 2 way switching is controlling 2 lights at once?

If so then just wire it how you have written & take a switched live and neutral to the second light from the first light.

Hi Fella,

In theory then you should have 2 browns, 2 blues and 2 green and yellows in the first light and one of each at the second light yes? if so then as Simon above really unless we are reading your post wrongly.

Sorry guys it Is supposed too operate each light individually, if I was drawing with twin & earth I'd be fine but singles seem a bit confusing thanks

Feed the 2 gang switch with a single brown to the common. Bridge the commons together with this feed.

Take separate switched lives from the L1 terminals to the 2 lights.

Take neutrals from each light back to the board.

CPC's taken to all points also.

Edit... This is for one way switching sorry...

Just imagine the Twin & earths/ 3 core and earths as singles that are wrapped in a sheath. it's all the same really.

Once you understand how the circuit works then wiring it in whatever method you choose will not be a problem.

brown to 1st 2g2way
Blue to 1st light linked to 2nd light
Stappers between 2g2ways twice 1pair per switch
2 switched lives from 2nd 2g2way 1 per light

1st 2gang2way 1live 2 sets of stappers
2nd 2g2way 2 sets of strappers 2 switched lives
1st light 2 blues 1 SW/Live 2nd light 1 blue 1 SW/ Live
Simples

I would like you to draw this on paper...connect both 2 way switches as follows com to com, L1 to L2, and L2 to L1....If you need a intermediate within the L1, L2 strappers then draw this aswell......Now look at the circuit, good thing about singles or T&E, is we can tap the circuit feed and sw light feed anywhere on this circuit from the strappers or a switch. eg we could feed any switch at com or L1/ L2, and our switch L could be connected at the same switch or anywhere down the opposing strap.....
