Hey all I was wondering if anyone can tell me where to find the serial number on an MFT1710 as I bought a 3 month old unit on ebay the other week but i cant find the serial number and it had no paper work with it.

I've got the 1730 and i am sure mine is in the battery compartment, possibly under the batteries.

looked there is it a long number or a short one cos there is some sort of code on the battery cover about 7 digits long numbers and letters could that be it

I have the earlier megger model 1552. The serial number for it is 17 digits long, with a few forward slashes (/) thrown in. So if megger are using similar format then probably the longer one.

Could ring megger maybe..

Hope that helps.

Hi dude,it should be under the battery cover,on a sticker, centre position. Mine (1720),is a 9 digit number code, with the original serial number on my first cert,a 16 digit number, prefixed with what must be the 7 digit model code.

There may well be duplicate numbers internally, but i cannot remember seeing one,the last time i dissected one...

For the purpose of a calibration certificate,it just needs identifying, for which reason, you could mark up your own.

This is NOT an endorsement of ringing a chorred piece of kit....the penalty for which, should be brigandage.:bigear:

Hmm looks like mine has been peeled off ffs now what do I do urgh thought it was cheap.

Flog it on eBay... I feel for you, but I also feel for the poor ****a that probably had it nicked off them. I would contact the seller and ask for a refund myself, and then give poor feedback.

yeah spoke to megger who confirmed the location but beyond that they where useless so called test meter .co.uk and they initially said they can suck the serial off the firmware but turns out megger have stopped this an will only do it themselves at an extortionate rate so the calibration guys have created there own serial number attached it inside and calibrated it and said that fine to use from now on aslong as I dont send it to megger.

Sorry I don't understand, are you saying the serial was removed from the battery compartment ?

yeah and I know highly suspect but theres no way to confirm it was done for a reason or was a dumbass apprentice who likes peeling labels (ive known a few)

I suppose that even with a serial number, its unlikely to establish its history. Best to get it calibrated and ensure it has the latest firmware update.
