Meter tails to SWA

Small commercial install,it's actually a community centre.

Anyway,the main metered DB containing all the sub-main distribution circuits (just five I think) is plastic.So we have the main tails into this DB,then each sub main is seperately metered into what will be become the room containing the new meters.

The spec for the sub mains states that each feed is to be wired in SWA,all DB's will be plastic.So I've got to feed five meters (plant room,power,lighting,o/s lighting) and then join my SWA from the meters.

How is this the best way to do this,how would you do it? I've already queried the plastic db's and got a 'use what you've been given' type response.So i suppose really what I'm saying is,the best way to connect tails to SWA is?

ive done this before by mounting an adaptable box, glanding the armoured in to that then using henley block connectors to join on to the meter tails.

Hi.

Agree with DHES. Also Newlec style adaptable boxes come fitted with a din rail type mounting bar and their own large mountable connectors that sit neatly inside the enclosure.

OK thanks for the quick replies.

I was thinking adaptable boxes but wasn't sure how to actually make the connection.Both your methods sound fine to me.

I would use the adaptable box mounted against the sub board, for the SWA termination and then take the cores through the other side of the box into the sub board, straight into the terminals.

Saves having to mess about with jointing.

Or am i missing the point?

I need to come out the sub board though Jason into seperate meters for each distribution circuit,so somewhere along the line I need to joint tails onto SWA.

(Unless it's me not getting what you're saying

)
