Been to look at the job as a customer wants a new electric shower installing and i will be working along side the plumber noticed the current rcds are slightly different to anything i have seen before in photo 2,

my question is can an rcbo of the new mk sentry boards fit into this consumer unit?

thanks guys

them rcds are currently only protecting the two ring mains, its an odd set up to me as the incoming live to the rcd comes from where it is bolted onto the bus bar then live loops out of that into the 30a breaker then live out to the sockets, neutral come from the neutral bar into the rcd then straight out for neutrals to sockets, wasnt immediately obvious to me either i have never seen these before

i am sure MK do a conversion kit for the new mcb/rcbo to fit in the old boards
You just cut the main busbar back, install the rcbo and the add the conversion kit

I will google and see if can find the part number

There is nothing stopping you installing the RCBO in place of the blank on the main switch side and cutting the existing busbar down then fitting a cable big enough in place of the busbar to the new RCBO
If you look at image 1 the conversion kit already does this under the 5 amp and 40 amp mcb, why can you not install a 10mm link wire say to your RCBO from one of them (or buy a conversion kit about £5)
?

ashrow - this may seem like a stupid question but would them conversions be capable of taking such a current from the additional shower? im thinking they should be able to so that could be the easiest and best option to just come off one of them and into the bottom of my new rcbo,

next question - the new rcbo will be the same size wont it to fit through the consumer unit cover?
