Hi all, I'd appreciate some advice wiring up a timer unit to a switch and some lights. The timer is wired as you can see in the first picture and connected to a plug, there is a live and neutral terminal, then another terminal marked S1 and S2.

I've put the feed from the plug to the live and neutral, and then another circuit from S1 and S2 which connects to a switch as you can see in the second picture which operates the lights (not pictured). When plugged in the unit turns on but the lights (fed from the switch) don't turn on.

Just seen the box says S1 and S2 have no power output and the load circuit must be connected to power. Should I take a feed from the live and neutral terminals on the unit over to the S1 and S2 terminals on the unit - is that the right way to do it? Many thanks

I don’t think my daughter, who is learning Manderin Chinese at university, could understand those instructions.

first thing that throws me is the power connections are marked live and neutral…. And also positive and negative.. ac or dc, make up your mind.

it does appear that S1 and S2 is simply a switch. But I can’t be 100% certain.

please take care testing this. You’ve got a lot of exposed connections there.

Ok. So your supply live and neutral into L and N.
Take a link from L into S1. Out of S2 then onto the load (or manual switch, then load as youexample)
Neutral from load back to the supply N

if this is just plugged into a socket, then remember drop the fuse in the plug down to 3A… and the socket should be rcd protected.
As you show at the switch, you’ve connected the earth wire through…. Just make sure this is done all the way back to the plug, even if it’s not actually required at the light.
