Hello

I have my niceic competent person scheme visit next week.

I have done the consumer unit change (I am pretty sure about the tests - just do them all)

Few Questions-

1. The second job I've done is adding a new circuit (just an outside light on its own breaker)
What tests would I be expected to carry out on this one?

as I am adding a new circuit I need to do a whole electrical installation cert. do i just write in the new circuit?

2. The first job is a TT system, what electrode test am I supposed to carry out. ? I have done the prospective earth fault current and got 280ohms, it says in the osg it should always be under 200.. very rural location. anything i can do to make the reading better?

all rcd disconnection times are well within limits.

also I tested from the rod to the board for the main earthing conducter continuity its very low .02 ohms thats fine.

thanks in advance!

depending on rod you put in some have a thread on the top to screw another on top to knock in further or just put another in and connect together

1 You do all appropriate initial verification tests for a new circuit and complete an EIC together with SOTR and SOI.

2 Your PFC result should be in Amps or KA, not Ohms.
Your electrode resistance (RA) should be less than 200 Ohms for stability, what instrument did you use for this test?

The earth conductor resistance will be negligible and that is why you are allowed to include it in the RA value when you do an electrode test with an EFLI tester.

You show confusion on terminology and testing procedures, I would urge you to get Guidance Note 3 ASAP and go through these procedures in detail.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Sorry I meant ZE not PEFC (its been a long day!)

IQ I used a megger 1552, that is the only tester I have.

I will try a parrallel earth rod..
