Hi,

being new to the trade compared with some of you, I have been doing a bit of thinking, no it wasn't painful.

how far back have EIC's been done for? And schedules of test results and so on as the oldest ones I have ever come across are around 20 years.

what did they look like say in the 80's or before? Did they even exist?

I think the niceic were around in the 50s so what we have now would have been around since then
They are definitely more abundant now than the early seventies and then rarely for any domestic installation, maybe a signed pir for a council grant or the like, the late seventies they became more numerous

Without any old regs books I would take a guess that those regs have asked for certification many editions ago

When i was working with my uncle (after school/weekends) in the 60's he always issued his own test/cert's though i can't remember how comprehensive they were, pretty sure it was just a single sheet for domestics.... More for the work he did for the local bakery factories and commercial work. Alas a long time ago now, so the grey matter doesn't retrieve memories as well as it used to... lol!!

ok, so it seems like there probably wasn't much about then in terms of paperwork. I see a lot of installations, 90% have no paperwork to hand, and the old ones are definitely non existent. It would be nice to go into a house from say 1980 and see some installation records.

Does anyone have any old ones they have kept?

My own house was built in 1988.
I bought it new and have the Deeds and all paperwork from the time of purchase.

No certs relating to the electrical installation.

Here are the 15th edition forms from 1981 book :), 2 off inspection/test, and 2 off completion pages, 4 in total
