Hi All, Really keen to hear what people opinions are on this installation completed by a contractor last week.

Was installed on site by a sub contractor who claims there is nothing wrong with the install, but another electrical contractor on site is claiming its a terrible install. Just wanted a few opinions to see if its just --- for tat or if i need to get the works checked.

no excuse for poor workmanship like this, if some one who worked for me done this they wouldn't last very long!

Hi guys, thanks for the opinions so far. Having worked with fire & security for the last 10 years its been very rare that ive got involved with the above types of works. We have just taken management of a site and I keep finding works like the 1 pictured. I then get told by other contractors its not right and when I call the installer back to site they claim there is nothing wrong with it and that its compliant. Are those wire compliant?

can you see exposed terminals underneath where the outer insulation doesn't but up to bottom of the terminals?

Yes a very small amount of copper exposure. One of my points was if someone (stupidly) put there finger up the enclosure they would be touching live!

then it doesn't comply and the installer should be made to come back and rectify his shoddy work.

The sheath should be continuous right up to the meter, it clearly isn't.

What you have there is no different to a T&E with the outer sheath removed a few inches before it enters a Pattress.

Thanks for this, dont suppose you know where or have link to somewhere that has this as written fact?

and the supplier won't be happy with the missing meter seal, either. if you can actually see the terminals, hit him with exposed/accessible live parts.

Outer sheath stripped back to far exposing inner insulation
Sorry about the double post don't know want went wrong

morning, pete. wet the bed again? lol.

It's rough, but i wouldn't be loosing any sleep over it, Hell i've seen far worse than that over the years....

I'm confused. Who's meter is it we're looking at? The suppliers or a private metered supply? If the former, then the meter fitter should do it and there's no way in a month of Sunday's that they'd do that, its grey all the way and indicate with tape (L & N, not Brown and Blue). If its private then it's still shoddy for all the reasons stated.

You’ve just taken over management of the building. So I assume this is from before.

It may be shoddy but if you called me back to it you would be swivelling on the end of my boot.

It’s your problem now, what are you going to do about it?
