Hi,
Am soon to be getting a pickup truck for work use.
It will have a full canopy cover in the back (so the truck bed is covered, locked and same hight as the front cab of the truck).
The tailgate does not lock however the cover does lock and this prevents the tailgate opening when the cover is locked.
I plan to install a battery GSM alarm that not only will sound a loud alarm but also phone/text up to 3 people (me been one) to alert of any intruder in the truck.

Am wondering what everyone else has setup for security in pickup trucks and also how any of you who have a pickup truck for work have racked/organised your trucks.

I need things more common use (tools, steps, ect) closer to the doors and less used towards the back, but also secure and not going to roll round.
Thinking of using storage tubs or small plastic draws (if draws then strapped to the load points in the truck to prevent moving) to organise smaller material, and a small cable roller to hold drums of cable that i often use with less often use cable stacked up.

Not sure how best to secure tools. Not sure if to just put tool boxes in back of truck and strap them down to prevent moving or to rack the back some how to secure them, also looking at things like the DUHA tote boxes to secure tool boxes inside this, so it can be locked in place in the truck but removed when needed....
So may thoughts on how to set the back of the truck out.

Any of you got pics of how you set your truck out or ideas on how best to do so?

Thanks.

Hi
was going to have an alarm fitted by my garage who looks after the van, never got round to it but they were going to install shot bolts on the inside of the van that when alarm was set they would make van more secure.
the whole lot was less than ÂŁ500.00.

I would advise you to get a sliding floor bed installed as access into the pack of a pick up is practically zero.

thieving scum will slice the roof open as soon as they notice some tools in there. when you notice the alarm they will be already gone.

Sliding load bed, unistrut shelf supports, shelf accessible from side and rear windows, which lock from original key fob. Picture of shelf supports needs to be viewed 90deg anti clockwise! P2210175.jpg.jpgP2210176.jpgP2210177.jpgP2210178.jpg

The drop down tailgate can be added to central locking on some pickups - Mitsubishi charge about 50 quid for the solenoid which is an easy DIY fit.

I had Truckman do a custom version of the S-series hardtop for the L200 - it had 3 solid doors, rear one on central locking, the two side gullwing doors lock via key. No prying eyes and about as secure as you can get - doors are grp with steel plate in them.

The side doors give great access without having to empty the whole bed or crawl into it

For truck bed fit out take a look at Hardtops UK, near Swindon from recollection, not cheap but have solutions from simple slides through full custom rack and false floors etc.

I am in the process of selling the truck and took some pics of the hardtop the other night so will update this thread with them once i get them off the camera
