Please help...at the end of my tether with transformer/Ring

Hi guys,

Really hoping for some simple advice after a 2 year battle with my Ring Pro doorbell. To cut a long story short, and spending £ on several plugin transformers and multiple replacement Pros, I have decided to use the 24v bell transformer supplied from Ring.

So, (and excuse incorrect terminology) I have connected the bell wire to the top of the transformer (24v out) and then some mains flex from bottom of the transformer to the plug.

Plugged the thing in to several power outlets and it has tripped the electrics each time. I am now thinking of trying my luck with a BG 24v bell transformer (in case Ring's is poor quality) and replace the fuse in the plug.

Am I missing something here and why would it constantly trip the electrics?

Any suggestions or advice welcome.

What a load of tosh for a bloody door bell! Get one of these. Had it for over a year with no battery change yet and living out back of house in converted shed so had a good distance on it. Also sets the dogs off nicely so works on all fronts

That's one of the worst plugs I've ever seen, it's no wonder people kill themselves when you see such a complete lack of respect for electricity.

So the cable I purchased never had any insulation on the earth but I suppose I should’ve put some on. Anyway I’m free to do anybody’s electrics now!

It should be flexible cable, mate. That is flat twin and earth….not for plugs.

You live in a shed, are you Eastern European and are there 6 of you?

Ok don’t shoot me but given there is no earth on the transformer nor I’ve seen any other ring transformer pics with an earth I would’ve cut it as there’s nowhere to put it. I just assumed I’d need it at the plug. I’ve read the trans doesn’t need it. Again not saying what I’ve read is accurate.
