Hi all thoughts please I am using the said fittings in a commercial building using 3 core in and out at each fitting at the key switch I am using a 1gang 2 way key switch the idea being the key switch on will make the brown live this enables when requiring 3 hour emergency light test to switch onto the black disingaging brown but the black keeps the pir going so lights can still be used during test the red arrow fitting has a perm conn brown a switched conn black comm neg comm earth has anybody used these red arrow fittings thx phil

To be honest mate I can't quite grasp how you're planning on wiring this.
Are all fittings emergencys?
In a 3hr emergency light test the lights need to be running on solely the battery for the duration to prove the batter is holding sufficient charge to last the required duration. The lights will need a permanent live at all times to operate on mains, as soon as a permenant live is lost the lights dim and run solely on the battery.
If some lights are not emergencys where in the circuit is the pir?

If you could do a rough drawing of the circuit that will help immensely

Agreed I don't think this will work. A maintained fitting will have the permanent charge supply and the switched live. Normally the test facility will isolate the charge supply sending the fitting into battery operated mode only.

You cannot have the lights operational through another switching method whilst undertaking the duration test. Combined emergency fittings that are used as both normal lighting and emergency lighting do cause problems as the emergency testing has to be carried out at a time when the lights are not required, however it is similar to the requirement for the emergency lights to be not needed after they have been exhausted by the three hour test.
