Hi. Looking for help. My FiL has moved into a block of flats using the Bell 801 door release intercom for opening the main communal door to the flats. We have no opportunity to change the system for the whole block of flats. He is 80 and paraplegic and cannot get out of bed to let his carers in with the 801 door release intercom which is fixed to the wall.

Does anyone know of a mechanism to get this Bell 801 to accept a remote signal to open the front door. I am thinking either an additional wired solution to place in the handset, or ideally a wifi device or other remote control. Can't find anything on the internet. Your help is very much appreciated. Currently family members can't leave the house as someone has to open the doors for the carers.

Could you wire an additional 801 handset in parallel with the existing one? The lock release for all handsets are all wired together in parallel, any handset can enable lock release, you'd be adding one more. The cabling is 5-core. Obviously whether this is practical depends on the distance & routing for such a cable in the flat (from current handset location to bedside).

This is really helpful. Does anyone know of a way to wire this in in parallel but use a wifi enabled switch?
