I am setting up a new garden workshop. I plan to fit a simple 3-way consumer with RCD in the workshop and running power though an armoured cable from another garden cabin. The garden cabin already as a 32A feed and a consumer unit, but I am unsure of how to run the feed off this consumer unit to the new workshop.

Should it be connected in parallel before it gets to the cabin consumer unit, or should it be connected off an MCB in the cabin consumer unit?

Thanks
Steve

Ok, I will get the electrician in first for advice before I start running any cables around the new workshop. I will be doing the sockets myself as I am boarding and insulating the workshop over a number of weeks and want all the sockets flush mounted. Can't get the electrician back in every time I get to a new socket.

There is nothing legally stopping you from doing the entire job yourself

But if you want it certified at the end you will need an electrician willing to sign it off for you

Don’t forget your derating factors for insulation

You can get electrician to first fix. You then insulate/board. Electrician then second fixes. Electrician supplies certification. This is how almost every job goes.

By law, the homeowner or landlord must be able to prove that all electrical installation work meets Part P, or they will be committing a criminal offence.

According to Electrical Safety First anyway. In practice it doesn't work like this really
