Discuss scotland again in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

All Glasgow is a extention of N lreland split down middle catholics and prodiees any excuse to chuck rocks at each other. All a Yes vote showed is there are more catholics in Glasgow.
So me living in Glasgow and you living in Coventry makes you more informed about the situation up here than me ? Ok cool beans. Like I said GREAT strides have been made in Glasgow and the west of Scotland....the idiots are the minority and they are dwindling.
Sure they have. Heard the roit in the city center did £2 worth of damage. Bet you look lovely in your little tartan hat skirt and bag pipes. Only joking mate. ;)

As far as I can tell the Genie is out of the bottle concerning the Barnett formula and this "hot potato" needs to be sorted.

Leaving it unchanged, is not an option.

The English think this, so do the Welsh. Needless to say the Northern Irish are keeping quiet as they benefit the most.
Oh now if you had said that I would whole heartedly agree with you. Barnett does not account for ALL monies going through the treasury .....The political parties are going to have to find the cash to dump into a bigger Barnett pot to deliver more to England and wales. The whole thing is bloody complicated with the likes of London getting quite a lot out of it but Northern England get shafted big time. Some of the disparity comes from how much it costs to deliver "services" in remote areas ect and the £ per head is not really reflected in the services given/received....if that makes any sense.

Can't thank your post for some reason...forum software playing up. The truth is there are still some knuckle draggers but not even close to the amount 10,20 or 30 years ago. Decade upon decade things have got better. Yes you can still find yourself in the "wrong" pub wearing the wrong colours.....but I could say that about lots of pubs in England too. They never liked me much in tottenham when I had my Chelsea shirt on....lol (true story BTW....It was just an "old shirt I was wearing on site and I went for a beer friday after work.....oops. Once they realized I was a silly Jock they calmed down and just hated me for being scottish instead lol.

I think you need a lesson in facts. The Barnett formula has absolutely nothing to do with redistributing wealth created by the individual countries:

"
[h=2]How the formula works[/h] The formula distributes expenditure to the constituent countries of the UK. Changes in public spending are applied in proportion to current population.
It applies only to expenditure on issues which the devolved administrations (as opposed to UK central government) are responsible for. Its principle is that any increase or reduction in expenditure in England will automatically lead to a proportionate increase or reduction in resources for the devolved governments in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Analogous arrangements apply to categories of expense which are only controlled by some of the devolved governments. The formula is not applied to all public expenditure, but is the default option if no other decisions are made. Expenditure is allocated en bloc, not by service, allowing each devolved administration to allocate these funds as it believes appropriate."

And therefore the fact that the Scots perceive that they, and they only, should benefit from North Sea taxes is misplaced - suggest you have that conversation with the Welsh

Radio 4 said tuition fees for Scots and anyone from the eu was free, but if your English you have to pay £9000
And the free fees and free prescriptions were subsidized by this balfour formula

... he bangs on about people being let down by the political class. He's one of them! He's quite happy to take his salary from an organisation he decries while doing absolutely nothing for the people he is supposed to represent and the kippers see him as something close to a god.
Just like Labour, and all the unions.

Probably alluding to the pot of black gold that never stops giving!!!

Compare the UK to Norway and Russia.

I think the response just shows how "little" Scotlanders think.

I live in the "properous" SE of England where the bulk of the UK taxes are paid, BUT I DON'T expect my taxes just to be spent in my area. They are for the greater good of all the UK

Really Murdoch

Can I see your figures to back up this claim like

How much taxes are raised by the scots and how much taxes are spent on scots. You have obviously seen them.
Maybe you could show us

But London must be the biggest tax payer with employees corporation etc
But yes I think my taxes are for the good o f all not just my area

Typical right wing/kipper response. The difference is, as I said above, the kippers see Farage as some sort of demigod. I don't idolise any socialist in that way.
The man paints himself as one of us but is just as much of a hypocrite and BS artist as any of the others that could be named but the kippers can't see through him.

Read this - yes its not completely up to date but look at the trends and they are obvious.

And I reiterate - I expect taxes to be handed out fairly, not on the basis of who contributes the most gets the most!

The Scots are a bit like fleas on a dog. The fleas actually know a good thing when they have it but just like to bite and suck all the blood out. And the poor dog can't get rid of them ........ and the fleas won't ***** leave.
