Hi,
Came across some sockets mounted in tall skirting using metal frames screwed to the front of the skirting (trunking adapters?) with no back box. Void behind is hollowed out brick. Pretty sure this is a no no but I can't find the relevant reg, anybody?

Cheers

If its in a 'brick' enclosure that should be OK but try section 526, electrical connections, to confirm if what you've got meets the reg.

If the clients a "chick" these regs will drive her wild ---- so Ive been told!

No not an EICR. Did some fault finding. Classic kitchen fitters chopping a ring main, wrapping the ends in insulating tape... They did downgrade the MCB to 20 amps but left the now 'dead' leg of the ring connected. Of course there was a partial short to earth in the wrap causing the RCD to trip.

I checked all the sockets on the radial and removed the extraneous cables blah blah de blah..

526.3 ii in the green book is about floor heating systems?

Agreed, don't see how a combustible plastic back box is an improvement over wood and brick.

Well its dry and mostly non flammable (well as non flammable as a standard dry liner box!) I'll offer to raise the sockets above the skirting but wont lose any sleep if he says no..

Thanks
Steve

Sounds like the skirting would be making up some of the enclosure here, which I would say is flammable i.e can set light to it and fire could spread (unlike PVC/metal box).
Still only a recommendation to improve is required (at most)
