this is how i do them. there are other methods but i find this way to be quick, neat, and compliant. the flex used id 0.75mm 3core normal flex for LED and CFL lamps, but heat resistant should be used for halogens.

the connectors are 2 in ( solid conductors ) and 1 out ( spring cage clamp for flex ).
below is the finished job with exception of not cut the gash off the tie wraps for clarity. these secure the cable and prevent any strain on the connections.

just thought i'd post this as i've seen some shyte connections and incipient fires.
