Hi chaps, I was called out to a house to fix an outside light, once there I look at the light ask where the switch is?- there isnt one. - not since the rewire last year - which was done by niceic spark (who needs a swich when you've got a mcb!).

And when I was there they asked me for a price on a outside socket and more security lights.......

ZE is 0.11

I'm not sure what to do about this earth clamp? would you ignore it? tell homeowner to get norweb out to it? or just make a note on my cert?

From past experience the supplier will charge you £120 for turning the supply into pme
Or 200 for guy to come and sweat a joint on Or they may tell you turn it into TT

I have a mate that works for norweb and he supply’s me with braids witch clamp around the cable like a strap but are set with a tourk screw so when it gets tight it breaks off
Not being a bad spark but would leave the strap on the incomer and mark it as a code 4 departure

Hope this helps:cool:
Tapout

This is a common occurance in my area, Supply authority wont upgrade as they say they are not obliged to provide an earth. Our NIC Inspector does not accept this as a suitable earth and insists such installations are converted to TT (see snag 8 in "Snags and Solutions").

As for making a note on your cert bear in mind you shouldnt do any work on a property unless means of earthing and main bonding is up to scratch.

Regards
