Hi there, had an unusual one earlier today. We use walkie-talkies at work, and when I pressed the 'talk' button it tripped the RCD socket when it was within approximately 30cm. Any one know the reason for this. We replaced the RCD socket, which was known to be faulty, but the new socket reacted the same when in proximity to the radio. Can anyone shed any light on this? I thought that it would be due to some interference reason, but a proper explanation would be appreciated. Cheers. J

get the walkie talkies caLIBRATED. CHEAPER THAN A mft.

was being facetious. mewaning use rthe radios as rcd testers rather than expensive mft.

Fair enough tel. Have searched it, and EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) inducing a voltage in the rcd coil seems to be the answer. Just struck me as an odd occurrence!
