Hi Everyone

I am really keen to become an Electrician have recently secured myself funding from JTL in order to complete an apprenticeship.

I have absoloutley no electrical experience and dont know anything about it but want the skill and a job that can survive a recession.

I am having trouble finding an employer and would appreciate any help you may have for me, I am 23 years old from Manchester and am willing to relocate anywhere in order to become a sparky.

Ive also thought about attending my local college next September and doing a Level 2 Diploma but will continue to look for an apprenticeship until I am 25.

Also, I hear a lot of people say its impossible to get an apprenticeship at my age, I hope some of you on here will know of people my age and older who secured one.

Welcome along and good luck with your experience and studies.
It can be hard to get an apprenticeship but keep going for it, it is not impossible.
There is the governments apprenticeship vacancy matching service online that may be of use to find a suitable post.
Starting on your studies would be a good indicator to an employer that you are serious about what you are doing; also it is hard to start from zero knowledge so some knowledge (correct knowledge) may be of use.

Can some please explain to me the difference between the level 2 diploma and level 2 certificate

Not precisely sure on that, generally a diploma is a higher grade qualification than a certificate.
However as these are both at level 2 it may just be a difference in terminology between training establishments.

Check to see if the course reference what qualification you will obtain by doing the course, if none are mentioned with the certificate is may just be a course run by the training centre and not an approved course leading to a qualification.

However this is just conjecture hopefully someone more clued up on the qualifications could advise better.

Also, I hear a lot of people say its impossible to get an apprenticeship at my age, I hope some of you on here will know of people my age and older who secured one.

Don't listen to them - I started my apprenticeship at 24. Although it takes a few more financial sacrifices at this age, ultimately it proves to an employer that you're more hungry for the opportunity than a school leaver, perhaps.

I started by offering any spare time I had as an unpaid labourer.

Don't give up, the right attitude can open many doors. Good luck!
