Discuss What is the difference between the LCL and C&G Part P qualification? in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

Are you a qualified spark?
Part P is a building regulation notification process, not a qualification by exam. You get accepted by a CPS (Competent Persons Scheme) if qualified spark and thereby can notify the local authority!

hi studying for Part P and the exam board from my course is LCL, is this a problem?
I think the course you are doing is the LCL Domestic Installer Course (aka part p). This is a certificate of competence and should not be a problem if you want to register with a CPS like NAPIT and NICEIC (call them and check). You would also need to do the CG2382 18th edition which you probably know already.

For NAPIT, you can see the course is acceptable in List 6B page 7

Actually Part P is an Approved Document, which, if followed, ensures compliance with the relevant building regulations. All electrical work in dwellings must comply with Part P, not just notifiable works.

City and Guilds, and others, offer a course, with an exam and certificate, to demonstrate a candidate's knowledge of the Approved Document.

Just as you can get a certificate demonstrating knowledge of BS7671 to the current edition.
