I'm fitting my new single oven in the kitchen. the existing cable is probably 6mm with a large switch on the counter. the new oven has a total connected load of 3.5kw and recommends a 16A fuse.

can I wire on the end of the 6mm a cooker terminal block and single 13a socket, as I want to put a microwave above the oven, would I need to reduce the trip size? I'm just wondering as the cooker switch has a built in socket, does that mean that socket is protected by a 40a mcb?

connecvt the oven to the existing outlet plate. use the cooker switch built-in socket for the nuke machine. check the fuse/MCB in the CU. probably be a 32A, so leave at that.

the only prob with that is I was going to fit a shelf above the new oven to put the microwave on. so that it all fits in the same space as the double did in the unit. could I replace the outlet cooker switch with just a switch the have the socket and cooker outlet behind the mic?

p.s. the current setup is just a piece of 6mm coming out of the wall, no outlet plate, it was wired direct into the back of the old double oven.

cooker switch with builtin socket in.

yes I have one of those but its the other side of the fitted kitchen unit. it would mean drilling a hole in the side of the cabinet and chopping the plug then rewiring the plug back on. wouldn't look that good either.
