so technically I'm not entitled to extra pay for working away, just an allowance to cover my costs. thats rubbish.

Im better off asking what you guys would demand? rather than what the JIB state.

Correct your not entitled to any additional pay. What makes this away job any different from any other apart from the location obviously. Why do you think it entitles you to more money?

Additional money plus quality hotels and allowances are only normally given to those that can demand. You will normally find these people are working on specialist sectors of the industry and it's worth it to their employers to keep them sweet.

I don't think thats the correct attitude for a employer to have.

I know if I worked for someone who had that attitude I would be leaving as soon as I found out.

I treat my guys very well and they give it back to me with their hard work. My point was it is not easy out there and I am always grateful for any job. I would probably sack you first anyway. ;-)

Work 4 12 hour days or 3x12 1x10 to get your travel time on the friday. this keeps you out of the pub apart from the thursday nite. Then a lie in the next morning and then the 3 day weekend, happy gilmore, win win.

When I was working away on the books it was 12's, 30 quid a day for meals, travel paid for, digs paid for 7 days even of we were only working week days, anything less and none of the lads would go

im only agency scum, meaning if i work away i pay my own digs, my own meals, my own transport, it all comes out my own pocket!!!

it cost me money to work (away)

and theres always a risk that i wont get a full weeks work out of it, meaning if i paid a weeks dig because theres a discount for longer stays and i get f**ked off the job the first day which has happed, im screwed and outta pocket!!!

so anyone who is making the same amount as if you were working home should count yourself lucky its not as if its costing you £££

Well either you should be getting a allowance included in your wage or you should negotiate a subsistance allowance before you start.

As for being told only one days work is unfortunate but also part of being subby scum.
