l had a dsabled shower room fitted which developed a sewage leak when the builder forgot to cap the waste pipe from the removal of the bath off, originally we had a outside light switch fitted below the bathroom in the kitchen. The floor in the shower room was recently removed to be replaced from the damage, what was shown was he original switch below in the kitchen thou any cover etc this had wire going into a new box fitted lower down the wall, the open box was left as the photo shows about 6 inch from the leaking stackpipe is normal no mention of any of the above is shown on the electric certificate
would be grateful for any advise

This joint because it is hidden to a certain extent would require to be house in a suitable IP rated maintenance free enclosure/joint box using maintenance free connectors then it will be fine... and can be boxed in and forgotten about... as it stands this is an electrical hazard to yourself and other trades especially if their is a leak like has just occurred.

Bring this up with the building company if that joint was made recently its a bit of a bodge job .... no earth sleeving, probably not accessible for regular inspection thus should have been made what is known as a maintenance free joint. Ask them to make good if they are responsible and request they do it in line with the BS7671 17th edition of the Electrical regulations and by a competent person. If this has nothing to do with the building company and was existing then post for assistance in the main forum and im sure a regular member may be in your area.

Welcome to the forum BTW ;)

Welcome and Darkwood has covered it all really, however it also looks as if there is another cable all covered in plaster or something below the "junction" that has been damaged and is showing the red insulation, this should also be repaired.
