Hi I’m in the middle of installing a 2500kw cooker, I have an existing cooker circuit with 6mm cable on a 32Amp breaker with a spur coming of the cooker switch to a double socket which I assume fed the old cooker on a plug top!
My question is:
Can I replace the double socket with an terminal...
Hi, I am planning on getting an installation to my shed. I have what was a granny flat attached to my gable end that is no longer in use which has an unused 30A cooker socket located fairly close to where I would like some armoured cable to run out to my shed. Would an electrican be able to make...
Hi all,
Can I ask your advice?
I've removed my old cooker hood and replaces with a different model.
The wiring is different (as expected) from the previous one and just wanted to know the process before I consider calling an electrician.
In not attempting anything even slightly...

Hi,
The three 20watt 12V G11 lights on our Falcon cooker hood failed recently, first one went out then the other two. The original lamps that came with it are tungsten, I see that two of the 3 lamps look identical but have LED on them, the light coming out of it was identical to the non LED...
One of the bulbs in my Neff Cooker Hood has blown. As far as I know it is 20w. What I need to know is whether it would be 12v or 240v. The only ones I can find are 12v. I tried one but it only lasted a few weeks.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I've got a cooker hood extractor, it only has a live and neutral cable, I've only got a single socket to install it. Can I put a 13A plug on the end of it?

Right this maybe a completely stupid idea....but, guy wants a 6kw pre built sauna in back garden. The fuseboard million miles to back of house so wiring new circuit would be a nightmare. But he does have a cooker supply right near back door of garden. I know it's deemed good practice to have...
Hello all
Here's a picture of a newly installed cooker isolation switch.
As you can see it is located under a worktop. You are looking at it with the two
fridge that is normally located under the worktop in that location removed.
I would appreciate your opinions on the location of the switch...
Hi,
I’m replacing the cabinets in my kitchen and noticed a wiring issue I’d like a professional opinion on. The cable for the electric cooker comes out of the wall behind a cabinet on one side of the kitchen with no isolating switch. The cable then runs around the edge of the kitchen wall, just...
Hi folks, not sure if I have posted in the right place, but I'm looking for some advice on installing an electric cooker.
I intend to replace my old free-standing electric cooker with a new one. I went to a department store who do the delivery and install. The person asked me a few...

went to cook tea tonight and our cooker wouldn’t turn on, I know it’s not the cooker as the hob doesn’t work. There is also 2 separate red switches for each. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Also tried to flick the switch on the fuse and left it turned off for 30 minutes still...
Hi all,
I have just been to a job where the existing hob is wired in using 2.5mm heat resistant cable, the hob is rated at 6000w. I calculate this to need a 4mm cable, however, was challenged by someone, in the end I called NICEIC who stayed neutral and said it "might be ok, what do the...
Curing the floorboard in room and the cooker cable that runs through a notch in the joist was cut. Through the grey cable and the tips of the brown and blue wires. Just enough to see the copper core.
whats best to do in this situation as obviously I don’t want to replace the whole cable
Hi I have just bought a new cooker and it has a cable and plug on it but my old one doesn't. Can I put a socket on the existing cable (6mm I think) and then just plug it in.
As it says really. When testing LE or NE resistance > 300M ohms but between L and N I was getting a reading of about 0.2M ohms. Could it be the BG cooker switch that has two neon lights that is the problem?
If it is, after shoving 500V dc through them, should I replace this erstwhile brand new...
