Am2 next week, any thing worth knowing

How did you find it,
Where abouts did you do your am2
When testing was the examiner questioning you and what sort of questions were they asking and did you have to measure the Zs values or can you calculate them

An odd question Anthony!! not sure what you mean by that one, can you elaborate?

Just wondering if that still features in the achievement measurement 2 exam. I did mine 15 years ago so image it's changed somewhat but hopefully still have some of the ball ache jobs I had to do in mine back then.

The saddles were already attached to the wall and ceiling and you had to bend the pipe accordingly to fit in between the bulkhead light fitting and metal trunking.......

Everything is pre installed and just needs wiring In my am2, so much easier than yours sounded

Hi mate, apologies for the late reply.

It's not too bad really, just try not to flap as that's when things will start to go wrong, I did at times, but just try to keep a cool head mate! My biggest piece of advise would be to follow the spec religiously, it should all be there for you.
Also with regard to the install, try to have a plan of attack before you go in, I found it helped. So I did it in this order:
Commando socket, Motor, S Plan, Lighting, RFC, FP200, Bonding, and Data. Do it in an order which works for you, I found hardest to easiest suited me better.
I took my am2 in Glos,
When testing, there were questions, like what sort of reading would you be expecting etc etc, but it was all straight forward if you're confident testing, it was mainly just watching, more so on the live testing. All my Zs readings were calculated, use the back of the schedule of test results to write down all your notes and forumla's (such as your r1+r2/4 and all that sort of thing).

Cheers mate that’s helps a lot, I’m not to bad on testing but just need to keep calm and I will be fine,
Do you need to prove and show the examiner where the results are in the books or is it just a case of knowing the answers and telling him

Hi mate,

In my case it was just really a case of writing down my results and filling in the schedule of test results, I didn't need to show the examiner. Just write down where you found your max Zs values, I.e the table number in BS7671 for reference, and I wrote on the sheet 'Zs by calculation'.

Once you calculate all your Zs values using your R1+R2, write down a note to say it they're under or over the max as that was what they were looking for in my case. I.e Zs high on motor circuit , due to high R1+R2, this was because of the DOL/Contactor for instance.

That's all gone there is no containment whatsoever, apprentices in work filled me in on it. Sounds like a gift now!
