As light fitting design goes I'm not sure it gets much worse, any good ideas how I can terminate this pendant, t&e feed for it comes through a timber noggin above plasterboard to support its weight.

If you have a 30mm ish hole in the ceiling available, a further option might be a Quikwire plug and socket. It's a very handy thing to have in the tool box/

I have combined the two before, one of those MDF pattress, make a 30mm hole in it, and Quikwire above.
 
How is the CPC connected? It looks as though it's not, unless it's connected at the other end.

You could always make a hole in the ceiling to the side of the noggin, big enough to slip a junction box in.
 
Another vote for QuikWire here...very neat, very quick, very easy. I always leave a disconnect tool to make the next guy's job easier, in case he isn't familiar with the system...or in case it's me!
