Hi - I think the autosave feature keeps crashing my browser when I'm using the quick post function to write a reply that's longer than a couple of sentences.

Browser is chrome.

Please switch that function off as this is starting to make me not want to post here, due to the frustration of seeing long posts getting lost, which would seem to defeat the purpose of having an autosave function in the first place.

Sorry to hear about the problem. This is the first report I've seen about this particular bug so the more info you can give the better.

Does the same thing happen if you click the 'go advanced' button and use the advanced editor?

Does it happen every time with the quick reply editor or is it intermittent?

Does your browser completely crash and need to restart or does the text you've typed just mysteriously disappear?

If you go back to the same thread after the problem has happened and you use the 'go advanced' reply option does it give you the option to restore the autosaved text from you previous reply attempt?

Does the problem occur if you tick the 'remember me' button when you log in to the forum?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this helps, but here is another forum I go to TWOBRUTAL MR2 - Two Brutal

It looks just the same as this leccy one, but unlike this leccy one I have no issues with it while the leccy one is .. well .. not very reliable.

I'm using the same PC with the same OS and the same browser for both forums.

Randomly, problem with web page but slightly different to this one. When I started a new thread last night from my laptop, I could not insert carriage returns which I have never experienced before on any web pages. OS is Win7 and Google Chrome is the browser. So that may be where the copatibility issue is (Google Chrome). Posting this from a work pc with an older IE browser has no issues. The work around was notpad and cut n paste. Hope thats of some help.

Me too Marvo.
Autosave doesnt work (sometimes) when clicking the post quick reply button and my browser comes up with message not responding, click to recover webpage. When I try to recover webpage I just know my text is gone.
I originally thought it was the smileys that were doing it.

I'm not particularly familiar with the autosave featur but I find it wors for me if I go back to the thread and then use the 'Go Advanced' to get the advanced text editor and usually only there is the option to 'Restore Auto-Saved Content'.

Do you also have the autosave causing crashes problem Geordie?

Not sure if it's the Autosave, but I'm sick to death of having to refresh the page.

I currently have 2 computers - a desktop running XP Pro and running 2 browsers - Opera & Firefox, and a lappy running XP Home and using 2 browsers - Opera & Chrome and the problem persists on both machines using any browser.

I've given up reporting it.

Temporarily disabled. See if that stops the issue with hanging for me a reply to this thread with updates please.
