Hi

First post so apologies if this is in the wrong place,

My 2 year old Beko dryer has started to trip the RCD the moment you switch it on!

I did a little searching and found that this is generally a sign that the interference suppressor is faulty, i duly followed the online instructions and sure enough it was wet and very sticky so i duly replaced it. Once the new one was in before reassembling the machine it was fine! happy days i thought!
I put the machine back together and you guessed it - blows the RCD - so having done a little further testing i've discovered that it only happens when the suppressor is attached to the metal casing.
More searching done and as suggested i tipped the machine forward and got my feet wet so on Friday sat it in front of the radiator took the Pump out dried the inside checked the pump turns etc etc - This morning i figured it would have had time to dry so plugged it in and sure enough tripped the RCD

I've taken the side off and its not apparently damp the two rollers on which the drum turns have worn of the rubber ring but other than that looks ok

Any suggestions gratefully received

Thanks

Is this the type where the green/yellow earth leads are connected to the casing of the machine via the suppressor bracket? If so, detaching it can leave the entire machine live to the touch, and you dependent on the RCD to avoid serious electric shock. I don't recommend this method of testing!

Do you have a multimeter and / or experience using one to measure resistance? It might not be sufficient, a proper insulation tester might be needed, but a multimeter will probably help you find the fault.

yes it is and having realised that the earth is connected via the suppression unit haven't and won't be trying it again like that
